Melrose-Wakefield Psychiatric Associates PLLC provides ADHD testing for adults through QbCheck. It is important to note that QbCheck is designed as a diagnostic screening tool and is not intended to replace a comprehensive psychological evaluation. This test, which is FDA cleared, is a computer-based assessment lasting between 15 to 20 minutes. It objectively measures key symptoms of ADHD, including activity levels, attention, and impulsivity. The results are then analyzed and reported, allowing for comparison with a control group of same-age and same-gender individuals who do not have ADHD.
QbCheck is a crucial component of the ADHD assessment process, with results utilized alongside additional evaluation methods to support clinical decision-making. Notably, this test establishes an important baseline measurement that facilitates the monitoring of future changes in activity, attention, and impulsivity levels. After undergoing ADHD treatment, it is possible to retake the test to evaluate improvements in symptoms.
The ADHD assessment is conducted using a computer at our office located in Wakefield, MA.
During the assessment, various symbols will be displayed on the screen, and participants are required to press a button when a specific symbol is shown. This test lasts for 20 minutes and is designed for individuals aged 18 and older. It does not rely on language proficiency, reading ability, or mathematical skills.
Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by our welcoming clinicians, who will:
Confirm that all your personal information is accurate
Provide an explanation of the test instructions
Show a video that details the testing process
Guide you through practice tests to enhance your confidence
Allow time for you to ask any questions before the test begins
Start the test when you feel ready, supporting you throughout if needed
Although the test itself lasts 15 to 20 minutes, plan to be at your appointment for about 45 to 60 minutes to accommodate both the test and a clinical interview. A separate feedback and results session can be arranged via telehealth and typically lasts around 15 minutes.
The fee for the QbCheck appointment is $250 if you are not utilizing insurance. As a courtesy, we may be able to bill your health insurance provider after the assessment is completed.
While many insurance plans do include coverage for this service, there is no guarantee that it will be covered.
Please note that deductibles and co-pays might apply.
To better understand your potential out-of-pocket costs, we recommend contacting your insurance provider beforehand and providing them with the appropriate CPT codes.
The CPT codes we use for ADHD testing are:
96136 - Administration of the Test
96132 - Review of Results/Feedback Session
Please reach us at contact@melrosewakefieldpsych.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
The results from the QbCheck can provide insights into the reasons behind challenges such as difficulty concentrating, restlessness, trouble focusing, or excess energy during the evening. These issues may become more evident in academic or professional settings. By analyzing the QbCheck results, we can identify the specific types of support you might require moving forward to enhance your confidence.
You will not be recorded at any point during the assessment. The computer's camera only tracks the movement of the marker throughout the test. Please avoid wearing any clothing that is shiny or has reflective elements, as this could disrupt the testing equipment.
There are no wrong answers in the QbCheck assessment. The purpose of this test is to monitor your responses and gather essential information that can assist you in the future. It is not designed as a pass or fail evaluation.
