Telehealth Guidelines for Clients

To help you get the most out of your online sessions, please follow these simple guidelines when meeting with your provider:

  • Find a Private, Quiet Space
Choose a place where you feel safe and comfortable.
Try to be in an area with minimal distractions—somewhere people won’t walk in and out.
If possible, use headphones to help protect your privacy.
  • Be Ready with Your Technology
Make sure your phone, tablet, or computer is charged and working properly.
    Use a strong internet connection.
Log in a few minutes early to confirm everything works.
If video doesn’t work, we may need to reschedule your session.
  • Treat It Like an In-Person Visit
    Be on time.
Try to stay seated and focused during the session, the same way you would if we met in person.
Do not drive, cook, or run errands while you’re participating.
Dress appropriately and be ready to talk.
  • Keep the Session Confidential
No one else should be in the room unless you and your provider discussed it in advance.
Please do not record the session.
I will also be in a private space to help protect your privacy.
  • Let Me Know Where You Are
At the start of each session, I’ll ask where you are (your current address or location) in case of an emergency.
If you are in a place that doesn’t feel safe, tell me right away.
  • Know What to Do If Something Goes Wrong
If your screen freezes or your internet connection drops, I will try calling you by phone.
Make sure you have provided a phone number that works.
If you are in crisis, we may need to involve emergency support.
  • Respect the Schedule
If you need to cancel or reschedule, provide as much notice as possible.
We may have to end the session early if the environment is too loud, unsafe, or not private.
